What is LexiLife?
LexiLife is a medical clinic dedicated to optimizing your health and preventing disease. Our goal is to keep you healthy and happy for many years to come. It is not unrealistic for people in good health to live active lifestyles beyond 100. We are here to help people accomplish this goal regardless of what they chose as their lifestyle.
What differentiates LexiLife from my Family Doctor?
Family physicians are trained to treat people when they become ill or when they detect signs of illness. Their practices focus on disease treatment and not disease prevention. They are very good at this type of medicine but they cannot spend the time to continually research and practice the advanced techniques that LexiLife providers do for preventative care and health optimization. At LexiLife, we focus on performance optimization before there are signs of illness. Our programs are specifically designed to review your most critical medical components (called biomarkers) and fine-tune them to keep you functioning at peak performance. Our medical staff continually seeks out new techniques and procedures and participates in the development of the most advanced and safe therapies so you can be your best for many years to come.
When can I Expect Results?
Your results will depend upon a variety of factors including your health condition at the start of the program, the treatment plan and your compliance with the program. Some people have immediate results. Others see results in a couple of weeks and others may take a few months. People often see minor ailments disappear first, then they see improvements in energy and attitude. Then they realize that others are getting sick around them and they are not.
How can I find out if the LexiLife program is right for me?
To assure you that you are a good candidate for our program, and to get you acquainted with us, we conduct a free healthy aging evaluation. This evaluation takes between 15 and 30 minutes. During the evaluation, we will discuss your health goals, risks, improvement opportunities and plans/programs. At the conclusion of the evaluation, you will understand what the program can do for you.
What are Biomarkers and why are they important to me?
Our bodies and brains function through a biochemical chain of events. By measuring biomarkers, LexiLife physicians are able to determine how well your biochemistry is performing. One can see from the diagram below, our biochemistry is best around the ages of 25-30. As we age, our biochemistry degrades. If left unchecked, the biochemistry will deteriorate into a disease state. Therefore, LexiLife providers review biomarkers before they degrade to a disease state. If we find that the biomarkers are less than optimum, we will work with you to improve them to their optimum levels.
What is the LexiLife Bio-chain and why is it important to me?
Your biochemistry is very complex. As an example, people think that menopause is all hormonal. The reality is that 90% of your hormones are controlled by your brain, or control your brain. Therefore, you cannot correct the effects of menopause by JUST looking at hormones. We are in a world of medical specialists. They are very good at treating diseases in a particular area – but your brain and body must function together. LexiLife has simplified your biochemistry by breaking it down into six interconnected systems called a bio-chain. To optimize your health and prevent disease, it is imperative that all six links in your bio-chain are optimized. The concept is portrayed as a chain because if any single link is weak, your entire body and brain will suffer and be susceptible to disease.
I get my annual physical and I attend a health fair every year. Is that enough?
Physical exams and health fairs are designed for early detection of disease. They do not analyze detailed biomarkers that will identify what you will need to do to optimize your health. At LexiLife, we review very detailed biochemical markers based on YOUR goals, current health and family history. Then we pinpoint less than optimized areas before we develop treatment programs for you.
What can I expect if I start the LexiLife program?
When you enter the LexiLife program, you will begin with an extensive evaluation that takes between two and three hours. It will include a physical exam, brain test, personal goals and lifestyle discussions with Dr. Parker and a blood draw. Three or four weeks later, you will return to discuss lab results and start your treatment program. Most patients will be treated with a combination of diet, exercise, lifestyle changes, supplementations and/or hormone therapies. Dr. Parker will stay in contact with you at all phases of the treatment program. Typically, you will come back for a third visit in 60 to 90 days. At that time, your treatment program may be altered according to your personal needs to optimize results. After this visit, you will most likely return for follow-up visits every six months or as needed.
I am overweight and would like to lose weight. What does LexiLife offer for weight loss?
For those people who need to lose weight, the LexiLife program is specifically designed to help you lose weight in the healthiest way possible. Our programs go beyond dieting and exercise. The LexiLife program reviews all metabolic systems to determine if there are biochemical, hormonal, lifestyle or dietary reasons for your weight condition. Once your condition is determined, a complete diet, exercise and lifestyle program is designed so that you can be successful. If necessary, supplementation is used to optimize your metabolic system so that you can lose weight safely and with optimal health.
I can’t sleep and I don’t want to take medications. How can the LexiLife program help me?
Sleep problems are very common starting in one’s thirties. Sleep problems are early signs of changing biomarkers and in particular hormone changes. Common causes of sleep problems are brain chemical imbalances, hormone imbalances, stress (causing altered biochemistry) and environmental conditions detrimental to quality sleep. Usually, there are multiple causes working at the same time. The LexiLife program measures sleep related biomarkers and identifies the root causes of sleep issues. In most cases, sleep problems are corrected without medications.
I go to my doctor and she says, “You are in good condition for your age.” I want to feel better than I do. What can LexiLife do?
These types of people are very good candidates for LexiLife. We believe you should be able to be in good condition “regardless of age.” Therefore, the optimization of your biochemistry with the LexiLife program is a very good approach. Most patients who come to us with this attitude and the desire to regain their youth get fantastic results from the LexiLife program.
What does LexiLife do to help prevent cancer?
We all have cancer cells in our body. We need to optimize our immune systems to destroy these cancer cells before they multiply into damaging tumors. Most cancers take over 10 years to develop to tumor size that is detectable with early detection devices such as mammograms. At LexiLife, we measure specific immune system markers to determine your natural cancer fighting abilities and optimize your biochemistry so that you can destroy cancer cells before they become tumors. With a very strong immune system, you optimize your cancer fighting capabilities naturally.
What does LexiLife do to help prevent heart disease?
Heart disease prevention is much more complex than most people realize. It is much more than managing cholesterol, HDLs and LDLs. To truly minimize your heart risk, all six of the major bio-chain components must be optimized. These include brain, immune system, cardiovascular, metabolic, hormones, muscles and bones. When this is done, your heart beats stronger and doesn’t have to work as hard. Furthermore, your blood flow is increased and your cells receive maximum energy and the nutrients they need to perform their vital functions.
At what age should I consider the program?
Typically, people perform their best between 25 and 30 years of age. After that, many functions start to decline. Although all ages can benefit from LexiLife programs, people over 40 receive the most benefit.
I’m in my early 40’s. I am not experiencing hot flashes or mood swings. Should I be doing anything for pre-menopause?
Most people associate menopause with major symptoms like hot flashes and mood swings. These symptoms usually last six to twenty-four months. However, menopause typically takes about 10 years and the male counterpart takes near 20 years. Early symptoms of these conditions include weight gain, sleep disorders, and loss of libido. Additionally major diseases can start to form 10 years before hot flashes and mood swings start. It is you best time to preventatively address these diseases.
I am going through menopause and am not totally satisfied with my gynecologist. What can LexiLife offer in addition to my current doctor?
People who are still experiencing menopausal symptoms even under the supervision of a competent gynecologist usually have other system deficiencies that are outside the realm of expertise of their gynecologist. Therefore, LexiLife providers work closely with other physicians in areas that their doctor is not proficient with. The result is a team approach that allows you to have the best of care and optimize your health now and for years to come.
How do you work with my other Doctors?
It is not our goal to displace your other doctors but rather to complement their skills. Therefore, we will coordinate our treatment programs with theirs. We will talk directly with them if you desire.
Do you use medications in your treatments?
Our physicians are trained to use medications where necessary. However, the majority of treatments do not use medications. Although medications help the conditions they are being prescribed for, they often have side or long-term effects. Furthermore, many medications were developed to block unwanted biochemical processes in the body or brain. At LexiLife, we prefer to enhance your natural biochemistry. We have had good success addressing people’s issues and optimizing patient’s health with natural methods. Therefore, our first approach is to use these natural methods before medications.
Are the Doctors in your clinic naturopaths?
No, our doctors are MDs who use natural treatments whenever and wherever possible. These include diet, exercise, supplements and bioidentical hormones. If necessary, these physicians will use medications if other treatment methods do not work.
Is it true that erectile dysfunction can be cured with hormones so that I no longer have to use an ED medication such as Viagra?
Many people have had great results with hormone therapy for ED. In many cases, ED medications are eliminated completely. The best results come from treating ED with hormones in conjunction with other system treatments. These may include brain neurotransmitter optimization, cardiac treatments and metabolic system enhancements. This is why the LexiLife program analyzes all systems and treats all functions that need optimizing instead of focusing on a single system.
Are Hormone Therapies Safe?
There have been many studies performed on the safety of hormone therapy. The latest research indicates that there may be risk associated with synthetic hormone therapy. However, bioidentical hormone therapy has been used for decades without any indication that they are unsafe. Therefore, LexiLife only uses bioidentical hormone therapies. It should be noted that long-term studies have not been conducted on hormone therapy. Patients should weigh the risk of taking hormones compared to the benefits. The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine has actively worked with a multitude of medical authorities to determine the safety of hormone therapies. As a result of the overwhelming success using bioidentical hormones, it has become a recommended treatment for patients with hormone deficiencies.
I have heard that diseases like cancer and heart disease are genetic. If that is the case, I cannot do anything about it. Why should I come to LexiLife?
Genetics do play a role with disease but it is estimated that your genes only play about a 30 % role in your health. Furthermore, scientists once thought that your genes could not be altered. This has been proven to be false. Through control of diet, environment, exercise, lifestyle and supplements, you can optimize your immune system and other bio-chain systems to prevent disease even if you have a family history of disease. It is even more important for people with family disease history to get in the LexiLife program because their biomarkers are more apt to decline faster without optimization techniques than people without family disease history.
I have no sex drive. What can LexiLife do to help?
Sex drive or libido issues in men and women are very common with age. Libido can be corrected naturally in men and women by balancing a combination of bio-chain links including hormones, brain, cardiovascular and metabolic systems. It is unfortunate that people are inundated with erectile dysfunction commercials, medications, and other libido enhancing techniques when these issues can be addressed with natural methods.
What does the program cost and is it covered by insurance?
The cost of the program is based on the treatment levels needed. Lab tests are the most costly part of the program. A typical program will cost between $1600 and $2150 for the office visits and lab services. Most patients will have between $100 - $150 per month of supplements and/or hormone expenses. LexiLife does not take insurance but will assist all patients with the submission of insurance claims. In most cases, insurance companies will pay 60-70% of the fees after out of network deductions have been net.
What is Lasair?
Lasair is a complementary company founded by Dr. Parker that treats patients for aesthetic symptoms including loose skin, wrinkles and age spots. Lasair has been in business for over 10 years and treated over 20,000 patients. For more information please visit www.Lasair.com.
What Supplements will I be taking and why?
In today’s environment, it is extremely difficult to get all required nutrition through your diet. This is because most people maintain stressful lives that require higher nutrition levels and because the foods produced today contain significant amounts of preservatives and toxins that previous generations were not subjected to. Therefore, all but the fewest Americans require supplements. LexiLife physicians prescribe supplements based on lab results for each individual patient. When a patient’s biomarkers are less than optimum, supplements often will elevate them back to optimum levels. Supplements prescribed by LexiLife are pharmaceutical grade products manufactured with the highest quality and consistency. Very few supplements sold in grocery or health food stores are manufactured to this level. Therefore, before purchasing supplements from these sources, you should consult your physician. A tailored program of supplements often provides the key ingredients for a long, healthy and happy life.
Aren’t all supplements the same?
Absolutely not. There are three grades of supplements on the market for human consumption. - Pharmaceutical Grade – This grade meets the highest regulatory standards for purity, dissolution (time it takes to dissolve), and absorption. - Medical Grade – Typically used for specific medical conditions. These are high-grade supplements designed for specific use. - Cosmetic, Nutritional Grade – These are typically sold in health food stores and supermarkets. Typically, they are not tested for purity, dissolution or absorption. In addition to impurities, many of these supplements contain fillers or binders that are not good for you.
Do you prescribe human growth hormones?
LexiLife physicians prescribe human growth hormones when lab tests indicate that the patient’s levels are substandard. Additionally, the prescription of human growth hormone is done in conjunction with an aggressive immune system strengthening program. In no event will human growth hormone be prescribed for athletic performance enhancement purposes.
